On January 25, 2017 we held our annual club meeting where we elected a slate of officers and heard from Congressman Espaillat about the current state of national affairs.

On Saturday, January 21, 2017, many members of the Benjamin Franklin Reform Democratic Club took to the streets in New York and Washington D.C. in support of the Women’s marches. Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz, Council Member Andrew Cohen, Male Democratic District Leader Eric Dinowitz, State Committeewoman Helen Morik and Club President Daniel Johnson were among those who marched in Manhattan. In his speech to the crowd, Assemblyman Dinowitz urged the participants to get involved in the electoral process, especially to elect Democrats to the House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate and the NYS Senate. One of the organizers for the New York event was Club member Helen Krim.

Among those attending the march in Washington were Congressman Eliot Engel, Janet and Dana Heller, Michael Friedman and Kara Dinowitz. Millions attended marches throughout the United States and on all seven continents including Antarctica, demonstrating for equal rights and against Donald Trump. See photos from the event.
