The full text of the resolution:

Proposed resolution by Jeffrey Dinowitz and Bruce Feld for the Benjamin Franklin Reform Democratic Club, October 26, 2011:

Whereas thousands of people at Zuccotti Park and throughout the country are protesting the state of the economy and the great economic disparity that exists between the very wealthy and the other 99% of the population; and

Whereas, the concentration of wealth among the top 1% of the population is greater than at any time since the Great Depression; and

Whereas, within the past year the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy were renewed and are financed by cuts to services and programs for the middle class and the poor; and

Whereas, the New York State millionaires’ tax is scheduled to expire, depriving the state of over $4 billion in revenues next year at a time when severe cuts have been imposed on schools, health care, and other important areas,

Therefore, be it resolved that the Benjamin Franklin Reform Democratic Club applauds the efforts of those who are protesting the severe and growing economic disparities in this country,

And be it further resolved that the Benjamin Franklin Reform Democratic Club supports adoption of policies and election of public officials that would address income inequality and protect and advance programs that support the middle class and poor and create jobs,

And be it further resolved that the Benjamin Franklin Reform Democratic Club supports the renewal of the New York State millionaires’ tax on incomes in excess of $1 million.
